HOLIDAY BREAK

I am on a holiday today and it is okay! It feels so good to just read a book.

It can be hard to break a routine. Everyday I get up at the crack of dawn. Do some meditation or yoga, pack my breakfast, grab my tea & coffee, get ready, set, and go off to work.

Sometimes it is nice just to take a break from the usual routine and mix it up a bit. Maybe even try another sport or activity. Like going outside for a walk, even gardening early morning (giving plants water) or going for a run instead of yoga. These are all meditative and healing activities as well.

There are days and times when we are all not in the mood to do yoga. And you know what - That is OKAY!

It also gives you time to miss it again. Usually my body starts screaming at me when I need to start again.

May is a month full of holidays in the Netherlands and it is a happy month for us Dutchies. My yoga students all go on holidays and take time to enjoy life with their families. It starts to get sunny outside and we sure do love the sun as there is tendency to be rainy in Holland.

Everyone needs to take a break sometimes and yet many people leave their vacation time unused.

It’s very important to keep stress levels in check by taking a break from the job, the routine, and the demands of life . Some may even overlook clear signs and not recognise when they are at risk of being overwhelmed. This could lead to being burned out.

When you take a break, you are taking care of yourself so that you will be your best later on.

By learning how to watch for the signs that you need a break, you'll be able to schedule some time away that will help you feel more refreshed and restored.

If you can not concentrate, have tight muscles, start making small mistakes, feeling overwhelmed, tired, having zero focus, maybe even no motivation… it’s time to take a break.

So unwind a little, put your feet up, grab a book, the cat (if you have one) and some tea.

Take a moment to just be - in the here and now. Relax.
